it’s friday !

dad and joey

this is a picture of my dad & joey celebrating dad’s birthday this week. isn’t it the sweetest picture?! Dad just loves his grandkids… I mean loves them. he just thinks they are the greatest … and so do I !! he misses cousin c terribly and is always updating me on what songs cousin a is singing. it’s really sweet. i feel like my kids are the most blessed kids on the whole planet … they have two sets of grandparents that love and cherish them, who want to spend time with them doing things they love, like going to the zoo, swimming, going to the park, drinking baby cinos, riding on scooters, reading stories, playing music … they are the luckiest ! and i am also blessed to get help from family – the best people in the world to spend time with our kids.

this photo makes me happy. and also that it’s friday. and not just a regular friday, but a friday before a long weekend. yippeeeee !!

happy friday everyone … and happy Australia Day for tomorrow !!

the newest little one …

over the weekend we celebrated the pending arrival of the newest little member to our family. My SIL is due any day now & i just can’t wait ! every time i get a phone call or a message i am hopeful that it is her letting me know labour has started … eeeeek ! i could just squeal with excitement. i wish we were doing it all over again for the first time … that sense of the unknown – what will i be like as a mumma? who is this little person inside me? will i cope? what is labour really like? … I am so excited for them.

the baby shower was a treat … set on Observatory Hill in Sydney with amazing views, lots of sunshine, cakes & of course all the essentials that a new mum will need.

i hope that very very very soon i’ll be back here with some great news of a little arrival ! yippeee !!

three.

last week my little piece of pumpkin pie turned three ! it was such an exciting time for us all. i am stoked that we made it through two & I’m so proud of my little man. he is such a delight & so much fun to be around.

he had school on his birthday. we debated whether or not to take him out for the day & settled on the decision to keep him in. at least he had all of his friends around him for the whole day & his teachers were so sweet in packing a full day of birthday activities for him. he even got to skype his nana + pa. so special. due to all the allergies i was not required to make a cake or cupcakes (phew!). instead joey & i made some party bags full of all bits + bobs plus a chocolate or two. he carted them off to school in a little wooden cart with balloons attached. it was the sweetest sight.

that evening we had a little party for our mothers’ group. kids dinner + cake. it was the perfect end to a fun day for my big three year old. just before he went to sleep he asked for “another party tomorrow”. if only life were that free & easy !

happy birthday little guy. we love you to bits & can’t wait to see what a wonderful three year old you are.

i had the pleasure of hanging out with this lovely lady this morning at a friend’s birthday celebrations. i don’t get to see her much, but when I do it is such an encouraging, inspiring and fun time. she is incredibly down to earth, yet so incredibly talented. she is a superstar mum to her two little ones & still manages to be creative and run an amazing business. thanks sarah for the good times !

the sweetest.

we arrived home from our anniversary trip to Hong Kong* this morning & on the way home in the car mark told me that he had an anniversary gift for me … what the? i thought the trip was the gift !! but no … there was more.

once we had spent some good time with the kids, put them to sleep for their afternoon nap, and while i was doing some washing, mark was carefully preparing his surprise gift … and here it is:

it is an exact replica (albeit smaller!) of our wedding cake five years ago ! wow !

before we left for Hong Kong he had organised different members of our family to organise the cake & the bouquet. WOW !! i love this man. he is the sweetest. sometimes it is too overwhelming because he has thought about everything & i don’t deserve anything. but after five years of marriage i am getting used to the fact that i am totally blessed to be married to him & blown away each day by his love. wow !

now i need to go and eat some more of this cake ….

*posts of our trip to HK coming soon !

weddings weddings and more weddings !

there MUST be something in the water. everyone is either engaged or getting married. i love it !!! this last week i have celebrated with two gorgeous girls at a hens and at a wedding. it is SO exciting ! hens nights are fun in anticipation of the big day … the bride always looks so innocent, a bit girly, and radiant … truly radiant. the wedding day, well, let’s just say i wish i could get married every single day of my life … especially to the man i married !

but let’s not beat around the bush. it is a hard time going to hens nights and weddings either in a relationship that is going nowhere, or not even in a relationship. i remember at 23 going to over 11 of my friends’ weddings after sorely breaking up with a boy i thought i would marry. it was so incredibly hard. possibly life long scars were made during that time. i remember thinking ‘would anyone ever love me?’ and ‘will i ever get married?’. lucky for me it was only two years later that i walked down that aisle to an unexpected but incredible gift … my husband. wow, what a man!

every time i go to a wedding now i can only think of the day when my baby will get married. i pray she marries an amazing man who not only loves her to bits but also loves … well, me ;) just kidding ! i really hope i am an ok mother-in-love but i just don’t know what i will be like in 20 – 30 years’ time !! that day, i know mark will cry. his beloved baby being given to another man. i will hold his hand tight and when we go home we will hold each other. the day will come when we are empty nesters … i want to work at our marriage so much more now in the knowledge that we must be in a good space for then.

a snippet on marriage.

“mawidge … mawidge, is what brings us togevar today… mawidge, that bwessed awangement, that dweam within a dweam…” the vicar from the princess bride (one of my all time favourite movies).

husband and i attended a wedding on saturday for a dear friend of mine, steph. she looked stunning. simply stunning. listening to steph recite her vows to her (now) husband, vividly reminded me of my wedding day and of the vows that i had made to my husband. i got a little teary as i  remembered such an amazing day. at that time, in my heart, i said my vows to my husband again. i love him. i respect him. i know for sure that this year our marriage will grow, strengthen and deepen. i am really looking forward to it and sharing parts of it with you !

here we are on that cold winters day in 2007 when we became husband and wife !
