it was the baby’s first birthday* this week & she received the most delightful vintage card in the mail (pictured above) from her nana & pa. it was her pa’s birthday card from his nana & pa on his first birthday in 1951 !!! it is an interactive card and the instructions on the inside say “Just wear the number on this card and everyone will say: There’s someone who is one year old today !”. isn’t it enchanting ?! i feel so honoured that they baby received this card & i hope it stays in the family as an heirloom for many generations to come !

i just can’t get enough of this family photo shoot. i mean seriously?! is it not the most amazing shoot you’ve seen?

mia & cal are friends of ours & this photo shoot is true to their soul. i love the laundrette setting, i love the modern plus vintage combined and who could deny the glory of the roller skates ?! Simply stunning.

heirloom.

such a brilliant word with significant meaning.

here is a chair. this was my husband’s chair as a child. before him, it was his father’s chair. now, it is joey’s chair. it is special. thank you nana for always finding meaning in every little detail. while to some this is just a chair, to me it is a throne of gentleness and greatness. may the legacy of the men that have sat in this little chair live on for many more life-times.

the baby also has her own heirloom.

a little dress. this was worn by my sister, and by me at each of our dedications. the baby wore this at her dedication. thank you mum for your thoughtfulness, for keeping the significant things, and for making whites white ! may this baby be as beautiful and intelligent as you.
