this week has been a complete write off for me. on monday i slipped a disc in my back which resulted in me lying on the floor for the whole day (with the kids climbing on top of me the whole day too!). mark was working late, then was playing the guitar that night so i was on my own … luckily my folks live just up the road & i managed to call mum who popped in to my rescue !
the babe has been suffering from an annoying bout of conjunctivitis which means we are in quarantine. it has also been raining all week and i have been in bed every night at 7 pm (yup! no life.).
let’s just say it has been one of those weeks.
i am proud to say that today things are picking up & i even managed to get around to a DIY that i have been meaning to do for ages. i bought a pair of trakkies for the babe a few weeks ago – not sure why because i am not a trakkie kind of girl – nevertheless, i did it. every time i put her in the trakkies my sad face comes on … they’re just plain old boring. So, i had this great idea (not sure where it came from … probably pinterest) to put love hearts on her knees. initially i wanted plain red fabric, but i couldn’t find any reds that i liked so i settled with the red & cream stripe fabric that i purchased from duckcloth years ago.
here are the results:
i’m pretty stoked with them & when the babe wakes up this afternoon i’ll be sure to try them on her. i may even be tempted to go out & purchase a pair of trakkies for myself & do the same for me. i do admit trakkies are pretty comfy to wear around the house.
the confidence from doing one DIY has now propelled me into seeing more that i can do. here is a short list that i want to get through before college starts up again in july:
- sewing lots of items: pillow cases; pencil skirt for me out of some divine floral fabric; many outfits for the babe;
- painting our front door … possibly gloss black or gloss orange;
- spray painting: a rug in herringbone design; a fancy grate to stop the kids falling through a window …
- making some storage solutions.
so ! watch this space. i hope i get at least one of these done in the next few weeks !
what DIY’s have you been up to lately?
xx
